The unmistakable shapes of Tulipa acuminata are unique. On a long slender stem stands the yellow flower with scarlet brushstreaks. The narrow petals hardly touch each other and twist and turn in every direction. This bizarre botanical tulip originates from Turkey and is probably a hybrid of Mother Nature, which has found its way to Western Europa through the years. The antique Tulipa acuminata was already described 1720, but only in 1813 officially registered. Not the easiest specie to grow, use well drained soil. |
