The purple specie from T. humilis is Tulipa humilis violacaea. When the flowers open on sunny days, the yellow heart will be visible and therefore often offered with the addition Yellow Base. Also this specie originates from the mountains between Eastern Turkey and Northern Iran. Tulipa humilis violacaea was described for the first time in 1858 while describing the Persian flora. This botanical tulip is one of the smallest species, but on a sunny spot they will come back for years.
